The Solitaire Wins NZ Dunedin Gold Cup
Waikato Stud stallion & former champion NZ sire O'Reilly (Last Tycoon-Courtza, by Pompeii Court) added a NZ black-type success (& 54th individual stake-winner world-wide) when 4YO mare The Solitaire (O'Reilly-The Dazzler, by Centaine) scored a half-length victory in the NZ$45,000 Listed Dunedin Gold Cup (2400m) at Wingatui. The Solitaire (ridden by Jay Misbah for trainer Steve Anderton) defeated favoured 4YO gelding Santos (No Excuse Needed-Carinda, by The Jogger) & 8YO gelding Zabene (Zabeel-Emerald Dream, by Danehill). The Solitaire took her record to 5 wins & 4 placings from 15 starts from NZ$63,225 earnings.
