Steel Zip Wins Sunshine Coast Cup
Deceased Lyndhurst Stud stallion Canadian Silver (Geiger Counter-Cheerily, by Drone) added a black-type success when 4YO gelding Steel Zip (Canadian Silver-Zip, by Cossack Warrior) scored a half-length victory in yesterday's $100,000 Listed Sunshine Coast Cup Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Steel Zip (ridden by Brad Stewart for trainer Pat Duff) defeated favoured 4YO gelding Ready To Rip (More Than Ready-Lady Langham, by Danehill) & 7YO gelding Dalzar (Xaar-Maharani, by Dalmacia). Steel Zip (a $13,000 yearling consigned by Daandine Stud at the 2009 Magic Millions Summer Sale) now has 4 wins (also including 2011's Listed Brisbane Racing Club Queensland Day over 1350m at Doomben) & 5 runners-up from 19 starts for $263,000 earnings.
