Bolton Wins Victoria Cup
NZ Cambridge Stud's multiple champion sire Zabeel (Sir Tristram-Lady Giselle, by Nureyev) added a black-type success (& 139th individual stakes-winner world-wide) when favoured 5YO gelding Bolton (Zabeel-Real Success, by Success Express) score a 0.75-length victory in the $100,000 Listed Victoria Cup (2000m) at Caulfield. Bolton (ridden by Nicholas Hall for trainer Stephen Brown) defeated 6YO gelding Montgomery (Montjeu-All Zalute, by Zabeel) & fellow 5YO gelding Royal Mail (Bianconi-Kyiv Messenger, by Kaapstad). Bolton (a $425,000 yearling consigned by Trelawney Stud at the 2008 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) took his record to 5 wins & 6 placings from 17 starts for $164,029 earnings.
