Aust-Bred King Cugat Son Wins Macau Gr2
In Macau, former Widden Stud shuttler & now South Australian Rivers End Stud-based stallion King Cugat (Kingmambo-Tricky Game, by Majestic Light) added a group success when Australian-bred 5YO gelding Dr Sweet (King Cugat-Retro Chic, by Canny Lad) won the HK$700,000 (A$88,000) Gr2 Spring Trophy (1400m) at Taipa. Dr Sweet (ridden by W.T.Pao for expatriate Australian trainer Gary Moore) defeated Australian-bred 4YO gelding Lucky Jai (Noverre-Chinese Girl, by Wallenda) & fellow 4YO gelding Easy Money (Falkirk-Suivez Moi, by Vettori). Dr Sweet (passed-in as a yearling for $9,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Winter Sale & subsequently sold as a 2YO for $40,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions National Horses-In-Training Sale) took his record to 8 wins & 4 placings from 20 starts.
