In the US, Independent Stallions Victoria shuttler Artie Schiller (El Prado-Hidden Light, by Majestic Light) added a graded-stakes success when 4YO entire Mr Commons (Artie Schiller-Joustabout, by Apalachee) scored a 1-length victory in US$150,000 Gr2 Arcadia Handicap (8 furlongs on turf) for 4YOs & up at Santa Anita Park in California. Mr Commons (ridden by Mike Smith for trainer John Shirreffs) defeated 5YO gelding Willyconker (Pyrus-Arme Fatale, by Trempolino) & 6YO entire Massone (Menifee-Stoneleigh's Hope, by Damascus). Mr Commons (a US$70,000 yearling at the 2009 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale) took his record to 5 wins (also including 2011's Gr2 Sir Beaufort Stakes over 8 furlongs at Santa Anita & Listed Oceanside Stakes over 8 furlongs at Del Mar) & 3 placings (in 2011's Gr1 Santa Anita Derby over 9 furlongs, Gr2 Oak Tree Mile Stakes over 8 furlongs at Hollywood Park & Gr2 Del Mar Mile over 8 furlongs) from 11 starts for US$563,660 earnings.
