Mark Player Returning To Melbourne
Hong Kong Jockey Club head of international races, sale & development Mark Player is returning to live in Melbourne after 6 years in Hong Kong to establish a bloodstock consultancy "specialising in the internationalisation of racing & in particular the global movement of horses racing on the international racing circuit". The consultancy comes with a 3-year contract from the HK Jockey Club to continue his present role with the Club of recruiting horses for their international race days (including Sunday week's International Race Day which features 4 Gr1 races). Player told thoroughbrednews.com.au: "Racing is all about internationalisation & I have the contacts to assist, promote & drive growth in this area. The growth of international racing since I have been with the HKJC has been incredible on a world-wide basis & there is significant development to come. World-wide broadcasting means we are familiar with the horses, jockeys, trainers & owners at major carnivals around the world. It is a major driver of every aspect of our industry now."
