Escadaire Wins Belmont Newmarket
NZ Waikato Stud sire O'Reilly (Last Tycoon-Courtza, by Pompeii Court) added a black-type success when 6YO gelding Escadaire (O'Reilly-Escada, by Centaine) scored a half-head victory in the $75,000 Listed Belmont Newmarket (1200m) at Belmont Park in Perth. Escadaire (ridden by Paul Harvey for trainer Frank Maynard) defeated 5YO gelding Vain Raider (Kenvain-Tropical Minx, by Carry A Smile) & 7YO gelding Foxy Boy (Don't Say Halo-Miss Avoca, by High Regard). Escadaire (a $100,000 yearling at the 2005 Inglis Easter Sale in Sydney) now has 8 wins & 6 placings (including 2008's Listed Hannan's Handicap over 1400m at Kalgoorlie & 2007's Listed PDF Food Services Stakes over 1100m at Caulfield) from 28 starts for $309,835 earnings.
