The 2006-07 ANZ Classifications (reflecting the best individual performances during the recently-concluded season in Australia & New Zealand) were released yesterday, headed by star sprinters Miss Andretti & Takeover Target, middle distance stars El Segundo & Pompeii Ruler & Japan's Melbourne Cup-winning stayer Delta Blues, who all achieved a peak rating of 120. The best performance by a Kiwi horse come from Darci Brahma, who rated 115 in winning the GrI Telegraph Handicap at Trentham. ANZ Committee chairman Greg Carpenter noted: "The listings do not attempt to identify the champion overall performer in each category, nor do they reflect an accumulation of performances during the season. The ratings give a numeric value to an individual performance." Hence the Classifications represent "a horse's optimum performance recorded in a specific event during the season & do not take into account any deterioration in performance levels at any subsequent runs".
