Meanwhile "just 3 weeks after Betfair clients were targeted by an email scam called 'phishing', UK Totesport customers were targeted in a similar fashion," reported racenews.co.uk. Totesport "reacted quickly, informing clients by email that it never asks for personal information about clients' accounts, such as passwords". Totesport clients were asked in the scam email to click on a link, otherwise their account would be closed; emails such as these "are sent to try & elicit passwords to accounts & therefore allow access for fraud & the stripping from accounts of funds being held in them". Totesport spokesman Damien Walker warned: "Our security department picked up the (scam) email & we immediately sent an email to all our customers informing them that we would never ask for such sensitive information in this way.
